Job Introduction

Data Engineer

Hybrid – WFH + Northampton

At Rodericks Dental Partners, Your Smile Matters Too. We care just as much about our people as we do about our patients. That’s why we’re creating an environment where you can grow, feel valued, and enjoy a healthy work-life balance.

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to play a key role in our ongoing data transformation journey. As the technical owner of our newly implemented cloud data platform, you will be responsible for designing, building and optimising scalable data solutions that support reporting, analytics, automation and future AI-driven initiatives across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a modern, cloud-native data environment, moving from traditional on-premises systems to a best-in-class platform built on technologies such as Snowflake, dbt and Azure. Working closely with business stakeholders, analysts and technology teams, you will ensure trusted, governed and high-quality data is available to support informed decision-making at every level of the business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own and Develop the Cloud Data Platform - Act as the technical owner of the organisation’s cloud data platform.
  • Design and Deliver Data Pipelines - Build and maintain robust, scalable ETL and ELT pipelines that integrate data from internal systems, third-party platforms, APIs, databases and file-based sources.
  • Develop Snowflake Data Architecture - Design, implement and maintain a Snowflake medallion architecture.
  • Enable Reporting and Analytics - Create data models, transformations and curated datasets using Snowflake and dbt.
  • Ensure Data Quality and Governance - Implement automated testing, monitoring, reconciliation controls, lineage tracking, metadata management and access controls to ensure data remains accurate, secure and compliant.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement - Monitor platform performance, storage usage and query efficiency, identifying opportunities to improve scalability, reduce costs and enhance the overall data engineering capability.

What we are looking for

  • Strong Data Engineering Experience - A minimum of four years' experience in a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer or Cloud Data Platform role.
  • Expertise in Modern Cloud Data Platforms - Hands-on experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse.
  • Advanced SQL and Data Transformation Skills - Strong SQL expertise with experience in data transformation, query optimisation, modelling and building reusable data assets.
  • Experience Building Data Pipelines - Proven experience designing, developing and supporting data pipelines that integrate data from APIs, databases, files and third-party systems.
  • Knowledge of dbt and Data Governance - Experience using dbt or similar transformation frameworks, alongside a solid understanding of data quality, governance, testing, security and access control principles.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration - Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, data owners, analysts and technology teams to translate business requirements into trusted, actionable data products.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Snowflake SnowPro Certification.
  • Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate certification or equivalent.
  • dbt Certification.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Blob Storage.
  • Familiarity with Python for automation, testing or data engineering tasks.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, observability and cost management practices.
  • Experience working with JSON, XML, Parquet and CSV data formats.
  • Exposure to AI/ML data requirements and advanced analytics environments.
  • Experience within healthcare, dental, wellbeing or other multi-site organisations.
  • Experience working in a private equity-backed business.
