Job Introduction
FP&A Analyst
Location: Northampton, NN4 5EZ
At Rodericks Dental Partners, Your Smile Matters Too. We care just as much about our people as we do about our patients. That’s why we’re creating an environment where you can grow, feel valued, and enjoy a healthy work-life balance.
We're looking for an ambitious FP&A Analyst to join our Commercial Finance team, reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner – FP&A.
This is a broad, commercially focused role with exposure to financial planning, performance analysis, strategic modelling, M&A and senior stakeholder reporting.
You'll play an important role in helping the business understand its financial performance and outlook, while providing analysis that supports strategic and investment decisions. You'll work closely with senior Finance leadership, Finance Business Partners and the M&A team, with exposure to the Board and private equity investors.
What you'll be doing
1. Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Lead and coordinate the preparation of budgets, forecasts and long-range financial plans.
- Work with Finance Business Partners and business stakeholders to develop robust assumptions and understand key financial drivers.
- Maintain and enhance financial planning models within Workday Adaptive Planning.
- Analyse changes in the financial outlook, highlighting key risks, opportunities and actions.
- Develop scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of strategic and operational decisions.
2. Performance Analysis & Board Reporting
- Prepare insightful analysis of performance against budget, forecast and prior year, identifying key drivers and trends.
- Produce the finance elements of the monthly Board pack, including EBITDA analysis, LTM performance, risks and opportunities and forward-looking commentary.
- Turn complex financial information into clear, concise and commercially relevant insight for senior stakeholders.
- Work with Finance leadership to develop the financial narrative around business performance and future outlook.
- Continuously improve the quality, efficiency and automation of management and Board reporting.
3. Long-Term Planning & Strategic Modelling
- Maintain and develop the Group's five-year financial model.
- Model the financial impact of strategic initiatives, operational changes, recruitment, commercial opportunities and other key assumptions.
- Develop scenarios and sensitivities to support strategic decision-making.
- Link financial plans and models to the wider business strategy and value creation agenda.
- Support senior Finance leadership with ad hoc strategic analysis and modelling.
4. M&A & Commercial Analysis
- Work closely with the M&A team to provide financial analysis and modelling throughout the acquisition process.
- Work closely with the financial controller so that balance sheet/integration handover is done well.
- Build and review financial due diligence models, including underlying EBITDA analysis, risks, synergies and quality of earnings adjustments.
- Support the evaluation of potential acquisitions through valuation, scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Track the performance of acquired businesses against acquisition assumptions and identify areas requiring further investigation.
- Incorporate completed acquisitions into the Group's financial plans, forecasts and Board reporting.
5. Data, Insight & Continuous Improvement
- Build and maintain robust financial models and analytical tools.
- Use advanced Excel and data visualisation tools to analyse complex financial information.
- Develop and automate reporting and analysis to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Improve the quality and integrity of data used across FP&A.
- Act as a trusted source of financial insight for Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical finance skills with commercial curiosity and enjoys understanding why the numbers are moving, not simply reporting them.
Essential
- Experience in FP&A, commercial finance, corporate finance or a similar analytical role.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working with budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
- Ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear commercial insight.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and take ownership.
Desirable
- Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning or a similar planning system.
- Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools.
- Experience in M&A, financial due diligence or post-acquisition analysis.
- Experience working in a private equity-backed environment.
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience within healthcare, dental or another multi-site / regulated environment.
