The Role: Financial Controller

We’re seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our Finance team during an exciting period of growth and change.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll be a key member of our senior leadership team. You’ll oversee the collection, consolidation, and analysis of financial data to drive effective decision-making. Your focus will be on maintaining robust financial controls, leading continuous improvements, and ensuring all statutory and compliance requirements are met.

This role is hybrid, with an expectation of working from our Northampton Support Centre approximately 2-3 days per week.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Controls & Processes

  • Ensure financial processes, systems, and controls operate effectively and efficiently.

  • Oversee month-end close activities including cash flow, covenant reporting, and consolidation.

  • Lead acquisition accounting processes and ensure integration into group reporting.

  • Manage key tax processes and liaise with external advisors as needed.

  • Identify and implement improvements to strengthen financial controls and reporting integrity.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Maintain statutory records and ensure compliance with all tax requirements, including VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax.

  • Support risk management and ensure financial practices align with regulatory requirements.

Audits & Reporting

  • Manage the year-end audit process and ensure timely completion in line with lenders’ requirements.

  • Handle all reporting to external lenders and stakeholders.

  • Conduct internal audits of financial controls and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Support the CFO in preparing financial reports and compliance documentation.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing finance team with a service-led mindset.

  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Effectively manage third-party suppliers and professional advisors.

Financial Management

  • Oversee relevant finance budgets and contribute to strategic financial planning.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and process improvements.


About You

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).

  • Degree-level education.

  • Extensive financial management experience in a fast-paced, complex business environment.

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

  • Experience working in multi-site organisations.

  • High attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.

  • Proficient in finance systems and advanced Excel use.

Desirable

  • Experience in dental, healthcare, or wellbeing industries.

  • Background in private equity-backed businesses.

  • Additional professional qualifications (e.g. MBA) a plus.
