Head of Procurement
Rodericks Dental Partners is a dental group with over 220 dental practices in England & Wales. We provide excellent NHS and private dental care to thousands of patients every week.
We are currently looking for Head of Procurement to join our team.
Purpose of the Role:
Responsible for the organisations strategic purchasing policy, supplier base and to ensure that we have an effective end-to-end procurement and supply chain service. To lead and manage the procurement activities within our dental practice network, support centre and labs. Responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies while optimizing costs and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Must be a strong leader, with excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record in procurement management.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Strategic Procurement Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in the procurement process.
- Forecast demand for dental supplies and equipment to ensure optimal inventory levels.
- Performing all procurement activities including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and tender management
- Developing strong relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
- Develop and maintain procurement policies and procedures.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to the supply chain and procurement activities.
- Creating policies and procedures for risk management and mitigation
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team to enhance their skills and performance. Embed Rodericks values and behaviours
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture.
- Set clear objectives and performance metrics for the procurement team.
Financial Management
- Manage the procurement budget and ensure cost-effective spending.
- Monitor and report on procurement performance, including cost savings and budget adherence.
- Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
- Monitor, review and analyse bids and quotes with suppliers, including the negotiation of service agreements and contracts.
Supplier Management / procurement management operations:
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure the best value.
- Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and manage supplier risk.
- Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, purchasing, and logistics.
- Ensure timely and accurate procurement of dental supplies and equipment to support clinical operations.
- Implement and manage procurement systems and tools to streamline processes and improve data visibility
- Identifying areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results
- Managing overall direction, coordination and evaluation of procurement for the organisation
The Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. (Required)
- Extensive procurement experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain management, and vendor negotiation
- A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) is preferred.
- Healthcare and other related experience is preferred
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement
